Corporate Membership Guidance

How the corporate relationship works day to day — packages, the Coordinator role, enrolling your people, and in-house CPD — drawn from the IAM Corporate Membership Guidance (IAM-CMG-2026-001).

The corporate relationship, question by question

Packages and the agreement

What are the corporate bands?

Four indicative bands by enrolled headcount: Foundation (up to 25 — a single team or function), Growth (26–100 — a department or multi-site function), Established (101–500 — organisation-wide programmes), and Strategic (over 500 — enterprise and multi-entity partnerships). Every package is quoted on application to corporate@instam.org, and corporate partners may negotiate reduced rates while the underlying fee architecture — tiers, the one-off application fee, sterling denomination — continues to apply.

What does the Corporate Membership Agreement record?

The package, rates, and invoicing arrangements; the nominated Corporate Coordinator; enrolment and leaver processes; any in-house CPD recognition; data protection responsibilities; and term, renewal, variation, and notice provisions.

The Corporate Coordinator

What does the Coordinator do?

The Coordinator is the named point of contact between your organisation and the Institute: administering enrolments, joiners, and leavers; keeping records accurate on the IAM Portal; receiving and reconciling invoices; promoting CPD completion and IAM programmes internally; coordinating in-house CPD recognition submissions; and acting as first contact for the relationship. You may nominate a deputy for continuity, and change the Coordinator by writing to corporate@instam.org.

What can the Coordinator see — and not see?

The Coordinator sees aggregate data only: numbers enrolled by tier and grade, the proportion on track, at risk, or complete for the CPD Year, and invoicing information. The Coordinator cannot see the content of any individual’s CPD records, reflective records, evidence, exemption applications, or non-compliance correspondence, cannot record or certify CPD on a member’s behalf, and cannot intervene in proceedings between the Institute and a member. Membership is personal, and it moves with the individual when they leave.

Enrolling your people

Which grades can we enrol staff at?

Any tier or grade for which each individual qualifies — Affiliate, Student, Associate, Member, Fellow, or Senior Fellow. Affiliate is open access with no assessment, making it the natural tier for organisation-wide recognition, with the Essentials Foundation Programme as an optional pathway. Affiliate and Student admission is immediate on registration.

Does corporate enrolment change the admission standard?

Never. Corporate arrangements change who pays and how enrolment is administered. Every application for an assessed grade is assessed individually, by any of the three routes, against the Professional Standards — the evidence requirements at senior grades apply in full. The Institute issues your organisation an enrolment route on the Platform (a scheme code or managed cohort list); each individual completes their own application and declarations; the Coordinator confirms inclusion for invoicing.

In-house CPD

Can our internal training count as our staff’s CPD?

Yes, where it produces a demonstrable development outcome — the governing test. A weekly team meeting is work; a facilitated workshop teaching a new risk-reporting method, with defined outcomes and materials, can be CPD. Formal, facilitated learning designed and led by a qualified facilitator classifies as Structured; in-house learning can also be recognised in advance by the Institute so it qualifies automatically for enrolled staff. Align internal programmes to the ethics and sustainability minima and the 31 December / 31 January deadlines, and a cohort rarely falls behind.
