The IAM Directories
A public, searchable register of the Institute's members and students in Good Standing — so that anyone can find an administrative management professional. Only active members in Good Standing are listed; an entry is removed the day membership lapses and restored the day it is reinstated.
What it is
A register the public can rely on
The Directory answers a question employers, clients, and colleagues ask constantly: who is a recognised professional in this field, and how do I find one? Every entry belongs to someone whose grade has been assessed by the Institute against the IAM Professional Standards and whose membership is currently in Good Standing — subscription paid, CPD obligations met, no sanction in effect, and in compliance with the Code of Ethics.
Entries are removed automatically the moment Good Standing lapses. No one remains listed because a record was never updated.
An illustrative entry. What appears is controlled by the member.

Your control
Three privacy levels, chosen by you
Listing is a benefit, not an obligation. You choose how much of your entry is public, at any time, from your account — and changing your mind takes one click.
Level one
Full entry
Name, post-nominal, grade, Good Standing status, membership number, country, year of admission, and anything you choose to add — a professional headline, your sector, your Competency and your verifiable digital badge.
Level two
Limited entry
Your name, your grade, and your Good Standing status only. Nothing else is shown publicly. This is the setting for members who want the credential visible but not the profile.
Level three
Withheld
No public entry at all. Your membership continues in full, with every other benefit unaffected — the Directory simply does not show you.
Organisations
The Corporate Membership Directory
A public register of organisations holding IAM Corporate Membership, so that clients, candidates, and partners can see which employers have committed to the professional development of their administrative workforce.
| Shown for every Corporate Member | Shown if the organisation chooses |
|---|---|
| Organisation name; country; Corporate Membership band; year of admission; status in Good Standing; the Corporate Member mark | Sector; website; a short profile; the number of individual members enrolled; the Corporate Coordinator’s contact for professional enquiries |
Providers
The Recognised Centre Directory
A public register of IAM Recognised Centres and the programmes each is approved to deliver, so that a prospective learner can confirm before enrolling that a centre is recognised and that the programme it offers is approved.
| Shown for every Recognised Centre | Shown for each approved programme |
|---|---|
| Centre name; country and approved sites; recognition status and period; year of first recognition; the Recognised Centre mark; contact for enrolment enquiries | The programme title — Certified Programme, specialised programme, or CPD course; delivery modes; the approval period; and any of the centre’s own courses that carry the IAM Endorsed Mark |

For employers and clients
What the Directory is good for
- Recruiting. Search by grade and Competency the Directory to find candidates whose competence has been assessed against a published standard rather than inferred from a job title.
- Checking a claim. If a candidate lists a post-nominal on a CV, the Directory shows whether it is current — and Verify a Member confirms it even where the entry is withheld.
- Commissioning independent practitioners. Virtual assistants, consultants, and independent office professionals are assessed on the same basis as employed members, and appear on the same terms.
- Finding a mentor. Members offering mentoring under the IAM Mentoring and Professional Supervision Framework can be filtered directly, including Active Retired mentors who have evidenced continued professional currency.
- Building a cohort. Corporate Members can identify their own enrolled staff and see the shape of the profession in their sector and region.
Data protection
How your Directory data is handled
- The Directory publishes only what your chosen privacy level permits. Nothing is published by default beyond name, grade, and Good Standing status.
- Contact details are never published. Where a member elects to be contactable, messages are relayed through the Portal without disclosing an email address.
- CPD records, reflective records, audit correspondence, assessment evidence, and disciplinary information never appear in the Directory, in any privacy setting, at any grade.
- Entries are removed when membership lapses, is suspended, or is terminated, and while a member is under CPD Conditional status.
- You may change your privacy level, correct your entry, or withdraw it entirely at any time from your account. See the Privacy Policy, or write to dpo@instam.org.
